Learning Support teacher Term 4 Miss Krieg

Welcome back!

My name is Miss Krieg and I will be the learning support teacher for this term. It has been lovely to meet all the students the past couple weeks and I look forward to being able to continue to work with them until the end of the year.

Our K-2 students have been working hard on their literacy assessments the last 2 weeks and have shown a great amount of growth. Well done everyone!

Science - Toy Construction

Before we take off on our next scientific adventure into the world of insects and animals, I thought it would be nice to give you a quick glimpse of our final task for last term which was to design and make a push and pull toy.

The children all worked really well and collaborated brilliantly, helping each other and offering helpful advice where needed.

Here we are in the construction phase:

Here's our finished products!

We've now started our new topic for the term and are looking forward to our incursion next week and showing you what we've been learning.

Term 4 is Underway!

What a busy start to term we have had! No doubt the weeks will fly by, so we are making the most of every minute.

We are really enjoying reading a variety of picture books which have a theme of environmental awareness and sustainability. This theme will run through our literacy activities this term. In Information Services we will be learning how to write information reports. Our final activity will be to produce an information report on the Squirrel Glider, a local threatened species. This report will take the form of an e-book. Last week we started looking at how to find key words and put the facts we read into our own words. We learned lots of information about the Giant Pacific Octopus and then used Popplet to publish some of these.

Last week we also began working on a STEM design task with our friends in Year 2. We have started planning our task, working collaboratively to share ideas. This project will continue for a number of weeks. Stay turned for some updates!

A huge welcome goes to Oliver King and his family, who have recently joined our Bayview community after moving from the UK. Welcome!
