Money, Money, Money!

What a wonderful beginning to Term 3 we have had. We’re back in the ‘swing of things’ and have been engaged in our learning and new units of inquiry.

In Maths we have been learning about money and how to recognise, name and count coins. No doubt you have heard about our new “Money System”, whereby the students receive some plastic coins throughout the week as a class reward system. They are awarded coins for working hard towards achieving their learning goals, as well as exhibiting our learning dispositions, for things such as collaboration, kindness, perseverance, making links, etc. We are also having a focus on using our ‘noticing’ when it comes to our writing – making sure we use our capital letters and full-stops in our sentences. Students will need to pay the bank back a dollar if these are forgotten. So far it’s working wonderfully, with lots of focus on and improvement in this area. We are also able to practice counting and finding the totals. Coins can be swapped for notes and change can be given.
